Getting ready for the Summertime Blues

Originally posted on Blog 2007.

Years ago I read in Victoria magazine (remember that one) about how to make seasonal changes in the home . Well one of the biggest changes to our lounge at this time of year is when I swap the slipcovers over.

I love the deep red in the winter with all the metallic candlesticks and votives and a roaring fire it is lovely and cosy.

Even the valentine fairy felt quite at home.

The window sofa is covered in fluffy throws.

The cat lovessss ....zzzzzzz it here in winter.

WELL ITS ALL CHANGE FOR THE....
....................SUMMER TIME BLUES.......................

Lets take a closer look at Niki's rag doll http://nostalgia-stonehouse.co.uk )

Look at her cute blue button brooch and those little buttons in the design of clovers on her feet.

Well now that big job has been done I am off to create - here are some pics of card I made and sold very quickly last year. I love butterflies and they inspired these cards.

Hi Ginny,
You are soooo kind!!! x Thank you for showing your collection of rag dolls! They sure look at home in your delightful home.
I love the pale blue look that you have created in your livingroom - that is such a good idea - to make changes to your interior to lift the spirits in Spring - but I am also amazed at how different your room looks with just those small changes...it must feel like you have completely redecorated.
Your cushions are beautiful - they look so inviting.

Thanks again,
Niki x

Hi Ginny,

The blue looks lovely and fresh for Summer!

Will there be room for the cat as well - just in case we have a sudden Summer shower?!

Wow, that's a lot of work but what a difference it makes! I oughta think about doing that here in the land of 55 degrees. Might help us keep track of it it's january or july! :-) Love your blog...lots of pretty twinkly things!

What an excellent idea to have summer and winter covers, I would never have thought of that, now you have me thinking!! I just love the way it totally changes your room without the pain of painting!! Brilliant. Your rag doll is totally gorgeous!

Hi Ginny

Nothing to do with your latest post (although I love the quilts and Niki's blue doll), but I've just read your comment to Kim about wanting a bird scarer/football rattle. I have one (somewhere) if you need one!!

Just beautiful. The blue looks so fresh! I must admit that I am rather keen on blue anything though!
You have been a busy girl...stay well and enjoy these lovely warmer days!

That is amazing how different it makes the room look! I'm like you, I really want dark colors in winter and pastels in spring.
I see you have a visitor from Dawson Springs...I wonder if it could be the DS near me in Ky.? What a small world. If whoever it is sees this...please drop me a note!

Beautiful cards - love butterflies too! Changing the throws and loose covers is such a good idea. Don't cats always find the best places to snooze?

It looks so wonderful Ginny!

You have inspired me to spruce up a bit. Living in California it's easy to forget the season's changing as much. Love the blues, and your view out the window looks a treat.

The quilts too, everything looks fresh. (You must be the queen of quilts!)
